Valorlis has just launched the "Glass by Glass We Make the Impossible" project, an initiative aimed at establishments in the HORECA channel (Hotels, Restaurants and Cafeterias), with the objective of increasing the recycling of glass packaging, promoting good environmental practices and involving local businesses in achieving the region's sustainability goals.
As part of Valorlis' investment plan, 100 glass recycling bins equipped with the assisted tipping system (a model that allows the direct unloading of small containers) are being installed in the six municipalities within the company's area of operation (Batalha, Leiria, Marinha Grande, Ourém, Pombal and Porto de Mós). This solution was specially developed to make the disposal of glass packaging by participating establishments simpler, more convenient and more efficient.
To this end, each commercial establishment will receive, free of charge, a 120 or 36 liter container, adapted to this system, allowing the separation of glass packaging on its premises and its direct unloading into the glass recycling bins provided by Valorlis. In this way, the aim is to facilitate the correct management of this waste flow and encourage the continuous adoption of recycling habits.

The placement and distribution of the equipment will be accompanied by communication and awareness-raising actions with the participating establishments, co-financed by Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV), focusing on the correct separation of waste, good environmental practices and the proper use of the equipment provided.

The containers for the establishments were also co-financed by SPV, while the glass recycling bins were funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

In addition to the environmental component, the project integrates an important aspect of social responsibility. Strengthening the recycling of glass packaging will allow the contribution of participating establishments to be linked to support for the Portuguese League Against Cancer – Central Delegation, through the allocation of counterpart values, generating a positive impact simultaneously for the environment and for the community.

“Food and beverage establishments play a particularly important role in this material flow, as they are among the main producers of glass packaging. Therefore, a solution adapted to the specific needs of this sector was designed, promoting a more efficient response tailored to its operational reality,” emphasizes Marta Guerreiro, Director of Valorlis, adding: “The installation of this new equipment reflects Valorlis' commitment to more efficient, accessible, and sustainable waste management. We want to ensure that commercial establishments also have the necessary conditions to correctly separate their waste and actively participate in the circular economy.

With this initiative, Valorlis reinforces its commitment to improving the service provided to citizens and businesses, and appeals to everyone to be part of this initiative. By correctly separating waste and using the appropriate equipment, we are all contributing to a cleaner and better-cared-for region.”
