Valorlis has launched the “Com o vidro no coração” (With glass in our hearts) project, co-financed by Sociedade Ponto Verde, in an awareness campaign promoting glass recycling among hotels, restaurants and cafés, known as the HORECA channel. The aim of the programme is to combine environmental and social causes by promoting the correct disposal of glass packaging for recycling. It is this correct disposal that will enable Valorlis to donate the value of the tonnes of glass collected by March next year, as part of this project, to the Portuguese League Against Cancer – Regional Centre.
With the participation of around 60 establishments in the geographical area of the municipalities covered by Valorlis - Leiria, Batalha, Porto de Mós, Ourém and Pombal - it is expected that over the next year, there will be a 1% impact on glass packaging collections in hotels, restaurants and cafés, contributing to achieving the ambitious glass recycling targets in Portugal. This commitment represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainability and circularity in the municipalities within Valorlis' area of operation, bringing the region closer to its goal of collecting 95% of glass packaging placed on the market by 2030.
With the participation of these establishments, 20 3m3 recycling bins will be installed, equipped with fill sensors and tippers for assisted transfer of the 120-litre green containers provided to each participating establishment, allowing Valorlis to assess the selective collection of glass packaging waste produced at these locations. The aim is to facilitate access to the recycling point and increase the quantities of glass packaging collected and sent for recycling, improving the habits of separating recyclable packaging in participating establishments.
‘Com o Vidro no Coração’ combines glass recycling with support for the Portuguese League Against Cancer – Regional Centre, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and social solidarity.
The LPCC Regional Centre provides essential support to cancer patients and their families, thus strengthening the fight for cancer prevention and treatment.
