A history of evolution
Valorlis has begun implementing the domestic composting programme ‘composting, another way to recycle’ by purchasing 4,500 domestic composters that will be distributed to the population through an awareness campaign.
In 2021, the barrier of 100,000 tonnes of waste treated at the TMB plant was surpassed (best year of processing), with energy production translating into the injection of around 14 GWh of electricity into the Public Electricity System (SEP), representing the second best year of energy sales in Valorlis' history.
Launch of the largest environmental awareness campaign ever developed in Portugal with European funds. The movement ‘The Future of the Planet is not Recyclable’ calls for the prevention, reuse and recycling of urban waste, which has received considerable attention in Valorlis' area of intervention. Also noteworthy is the launch of the new version of the Recycle BinGo smartphone app, developed with the support of the Ministry of the Environment's Environmental Fund and awarded by several entities in the field of advertising and creativity in Portugal.
Valorlis implemented the Ecological Islands project - selective collection in the neighbourhood, replacing traditional recycling bins with smaller capacity containers (1,000 litres), placed closer to each home and in greater numbers, bringing the containers for recyclables closer to the population, in order to make it more convenient to separate this waste.
Valorlis made significant investments targeted at POSEUR applications, namely the acquisition of recycling bins and new types of vehicles and containers, which enabled the strengthening of door-to-door collection in commerce and services, the reinforcement of selective collection in the HORECA channel, IPSS, markets and fairs, communities, festivities and events throughout the area covered by Valorlis. This has resulted in one of the highest growth rates in recent years in terms of container availability, opening a new cycle at Valorlis that will improve the service provided to the population.
Valorlis gets a new image, embodying a new group strategy.
